Photo competition seeks works on solidarity, social action worldwide

Young photographers and photojournalists worldwide are invited to participate in an annual photo competition under the theme “Acting in Solidarity and Building Movements for Change." Deadline to submit entries: April 1. According to Friends of the Earth International, this competition intends to gather photos from around the world of people working in solidarity in order to bring about change, as well as photos of social movements in action. First place winners will receive cash prizes of EU€400 (US$547), second place EU€200 (US$270) and third place EU€100 (US$137). In addition, the best shots will be featured in materials produced by organizations and social movements, including a 2011 calendar and an international photo exhibition. Entries can be e-mailed to photos@foei.org. They should be 1819 x 2598 pixels (54 x 220mm horizontal), 300 DPI resolution, JPEG format, and file size of 10 MB. For more information, click here.
