2010 World Press Photo contest open to photojournalists worldwide
Photojournalists and professional photographers are invited to submit works to the 2010 World Press Photo contest. Deadline for submissions: January 14, 2010. Entries may be entered as single images or stories/portfolios in ten categories: Spot News, General News, People in the News, Sports Action, Sports Feature, Contemporary Issues, Daily Life, Portraits, Arts and Entertainment and Nature. Winning pictures will compose a traveling exhibition in more than 90 locations worldwide. In the 2009 World Press Photo Contest, 96,268 images were submitted by 5,508 photographers from 124 countries, according to the contest organizers. All contest entry information is available at the World Press Photo website in seven languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish). Entries to the 2010 World Press Photo Contest can only be submitted online, and user name and password are needed. Both can be requested on the website between December 1, 2009 and January 8, 2010.
