Observer of RIA “New Region” Ernest Vardanyan, Armenian origin, sentenced to 15 years in prison without confiscation of property to be served in the colony.
As the press service of the Ministry of State Security of the unrecognized Republic of Transnistria, the sentence was handed down on December 16, 2010 Supreme Court of the region. The journalist is accused of spying for the Republic of Moldova.
The report said that “in accordance with Art. 271 CC PMR” Treason, “the court found him guilty and sentenced to 15 years in prison without confiscation of property to be served in the colony," sends Omega.
Journalist Ernest Vardanyan, a Moldovan citizen, was arrested by the security forces of Transnistria in the evening of April 7 on charges of “treason.”
April 21, the heads of missions of the European Union in Moldova signed a joint statement expressing concern over the actions of self-proclaimed Transnistrian authorities in relation to the journalist Ernest Vardanyan, arrested by Transnistrian security services.
The Moldovan authorities have not responded to the imposition of a journalist in Tiraspol sentence.

Armenia: New Rebuff to Broadcaster: Authorities Deny License for Critical Voice Despite Court Judgment(New York) - Armenia has denied a broadcast license to an independent television station, A1+, despite a European Court of Human Rights judgment that previous denials violated freedom of expression, Human Rights Watch said today."Today's decision is another setback for freedom of expression and information in Armenia," said Giorgi Gogia, South Caucasus researcher at Human Rights Watch.
